Airwear - a lighter, safer, greener lens

Quite some time ago, I was given the opportunity to review Airwear Lenses.. We all know how hectic my second half of the year was & quite honestly I completely forgot about it.

Time to make amends!

Let me introduce you first to Airwear Lenses and what's so awesome about them .
  1. Lighter - Designed for comfort, performance, protection and style, Airwear lenses are 43 percent lighter than standard plastic lenses.
  2. Safer - Many eye injuries are preventable. The American Academy of Ophthalmology reports that more than 100,000 people sustain eye injuries each year.  Airwear lenses are 12 times more impact-resistant than standard plastic lenses.
  3. Healthier- Airwear lenses provide 100 percent protection from harmful UVA and UVB rays.
  4. Greener - Airwear lenses are the first Essilor lens material to go green, significantly reducing its environmental footprint by implementing responsible manufacturing, including : packaging made from 100% recyclable cardboard,  100% recycled water is used for manufacturing of Airwear lenses (conserving millions of gallons of water), and recycling excess materials by re-purposing all unused materials for other industries such as automobiles, toys & writing instruments.
There's all the company details and now on to our opinion.

Attitude King did not have an extra pair of frames to send off to get the trial when the opportunity came to pass so Daddy Chaos tried these out by having his frames fitted with Airwear lenses.  He reports that they are noticeably lighter than his previous glasses despite the fact that he always used to pay extra for the "thinner, lighter lenses" at the eye doctor.  If he has to have a complaint it was only that the lenses were not polished on the edges like his normal lenses are and he felt this was a bit distracting .  Overall, he felt they are a great product.  In the future we will most likely be purchasing a set for Attitude King when his current lenses need replaced!

*Disclosure :  I was given a free pair of lenses in order to make this review. No other compensation was made. All opinions are 100% my own ! *
