The seventh and final tale in the dazzling, heartwarming, and pulse-racing Weekday Bride series.

Gabriella Masini: She's a woman haunted by her past, with the scars to prove it. She believes that fairy tales are for other people. An elite matchmaker at Alliance, she's great at crunching numbers, but something doesn't add up with her latest prospective client: a billionaire bad boy with his own secrets. When Gabi refuses to be his temporary wife, Hunter forces her hand with an offer she can't refuse. But marriage to a man like that could never last ... or could it?

Hunter Blackwell:  Only his bank account is bigger than his ruthless ability to obtain anything he wants. These days, he has a secret reason to settle down, at least for a while -- and he thinks the sensual and sassy Gabi will fit the bill perfectly. But when their marriage of convenience becomes downright dangerous, Hunter must decide how far to take his vow to honor and protect Gabi forever.

My Thoughts :

What can I say about this book that I haven't already said about all of Catherine's other books? I loved it :)  All of the Weekday Bride books could be read alone but since they all relate to one another and older characters are in each new installment, it only makes sense to read them in order. Just my bit of advice!  Now onto this book..

We first met Gabi back in Meg's & Val's story.  Although a side character, she went through so much that you just knew that you needed to read her happily ever after.  Catherine has given us all that we could have asked for !

Gabi is sensitive, drawn into herself and afraid of men in general. Meeting and subsequently being bullied into marriage with Hunter was actually a blessing for her.  She is forced to come out of her shell and begin to live again.  Sure, we see a LOT of anger in the beginning but it's all part of the healing process.  And quite honestly, as much as I like him - Hunter is a bit of an ass from time to time.  At least he can pick out flowers :)  I was thrilled with how this story line went and being able to see Gabi recover from her traumatic past.  The girl is something special !

Hunter is a billionaire with his own secrets and likes to let everyone assume that he is his bad-boy-doesn't-give-a-damn persona.  In fact, he's an onion people. He has many layers. (Yes I just quote Shrek. lol) Deep down, Hunter has the heart that makes him a great leading man :)

The only downfall to this book is that it is BOOK 7.  Do you even realize what that means?? It's the end of the Weekday Brides.. Sure we get to have some Holiday Bride books coming soon but this is still an ending ... sigh.  How will we cope?  I , for one, will probably have to go binge read the entire series again. Lol :)   Happy reading everyone !!

EXCERPT:

“I think we should talk about what’s going on here.”

She swallowed. “We’re cooking.”

“Gabi, look at me.”

She shook her head, taking the coward’s way out. If she noticed the lock of hair falling into his eyes a second time, she might have to push it back in place.

“Gabriella?” The smooth texture of his voice was like chocolate on her tongue.

His sticky hand tucked under her chin and forced her to meet his gaze.

He stepped closer, his frame molding to hers and pressing her back against the counter.

She couldn’t breathe.

His thumb traced her bottom lip. “This is a bad idea,” he mumbled her thoughts.

She nodded. “Very poor choice.” Her hands gripped the side of the counter to keep from touching him.

Hunter sucked in a deep breath. “You smell like flowers.”

“I’ll change my shampoo.”

He started to dip his head and she kept talking. “Something musky, so you won’t notice me.”

“I don’t think that’s going to work.”

He was close enough to catch the scent of mint on his breath. “I don’t even like you.” One of her legs lifted and rubbed against one of his.

“I don’t trust you.” His hand moved from her lip the side of her neck.

“You blackmailed me.”

“You tricked me into cooking with your mother.”

She smiled. “The two hardly compare.”

Instead of dropping his lips to hers, he detoured to the side of her neck and kept talking, his breath brushing her skin. “Have you met your mother?”

“That’s sill—”

His lips found her neck.

She moaned and closed her eyes. Such a deliciously bad idea.

EXCERPT:

A shadow fell over her, drawing Meg's attention from the nap she was trying to take. It might have been unfortunate that she opened her eyes to find a pair of dress pants, with a rather impressive bulge hiding the sun ... but Meg found herself tearing her gaze away to follow the overdressed path to broad shoulders, partially shaven face ... dark eyes.
"Mr. Masini."
"Miss Rosenthal."
"You're a little overdressed for the pool, don't you think?"
The weight of his eyes traveled over her exposed skin. The bikini hid the important parts, but didn't leave a ton to the imagination. She couldn't tell if Val's lips twitched with admiration for what he saw, or disapproval. Either way, she felt a little like a Catholic school girl who'd shown up for the first day of school with the wrong uniform ... which had actually happened to her before her parents decided to ignore her grandparents' suggestion that public school might prove best.
His gaze lingered on her thighs and Meg felt the need to squirm. Instead, she simply called the man out. "You're staring, Mr. Masini."
He jolted as if his own personal earthquake woke him. "Please, call me Val."
"We're on a first name basis now?"
Val rocked back, placed his hands into his pockets as if he didn't know what to do with them.
He'd been nothing short of cocky since before she'd arrived...this new look suited her just fine.
"I welcome all my guests to use my name."
"Yet you don't go by Valentino. I'd think you'd prefer only friends call you Val."
"Are we not friends?"
Meg couldn't help it, she laughed. "Sure, Val, let's be friends ... you can call me Margaret. Miss Rosenthal reminds me of my great aunt who never married.
His eyes laughed even though his lips didn't. "Don't you use Meg?"
"Let's not push it, Val."
