The Revelations Institute is an upscale, private reform school with a 100% success rate. Delinquents go in and model citizens come out. But students who don’t perform to expectations disappear. And although their bodies return model citizens, their minds are hardly their own. Something evil lurks inside Revelations, and if Finn and his new friend Hope can't find a way to stop it, they’ll risk more than their lives. The repercussions could cost them their souls.

An interview with Finn Wager, main character of Wager’s Price

What’s your name and how old are you?
Finn Wager. I’m fifteen and a sophomore at Beaverton High School.
Do you have a nickname?
My best friend, Mike, calls me Finn Shady, but it’s a joke. There’s nothing shady
or thug-like about me. My ADHD meds make it hard for me to gain weight, so I’m
smaller than most of my friends, which means most adults tend to either overlook
me or underestimate me. I use this to me advantage.

What do you like to do in your free time?
Play video games. The one good thing about having a father who works all the
time is I have plenty of money to feed my habit. I built a Holographic Omni
Recognition Unit I call HORU, a completely interactive artificial intelligence that
amps up all my Holo games. I take HORU with me wherever I go using a
specially designed earpiece.

HORU helps you with more than video games, doesn’t she? Tell me about
Deviant Joe.

Who told you about Deviant Joe?

We’re all friends here. It’s safe to share.
Okay, okay, my friends and I have this thing we do where we use HORU to
record epic pranks and upload them to our channel on the Internet. We have a
huge following, but no one knows it’s us because we’re always careful to conceal
our faces. I’m the mastermind. I come up with the pranks. My friend Mike, he’s
the muscle. He’s big and he’s already driving, which comes in handy because
our parents absolutely cannot know what we’re up to. Jayden is our gasoline. He
always figures out a way to take the prank up a notch. The only problem is,
sometimes Jayden goes too far and things get dangerous. That’s why we have
Wyatt. Wyatt is our brakes. He keeps us from doing anything that could get us or
somebody else hurt or even killed.

You called yourself the mastermind. What word would you say best
describes your abilities?

Scrappy.

What is your deepest fear?
The only thing worse than not being able to keep my friends safe would be
knowing that I am the reason they are in danger. That’s my darkest fear.
What’s next for you after Wager’s Price?

I made a mistake, okay? I did something bad and someone I loved paid the price.
I’m going to make it right. I’m going to put everything back where it belongs. I
promise you.

Character Interview

Hilary Wynne: Thank you for having us on Lia. I have a ton of things I want to talk to Alexa about and this is the best way to get her to spill all the details. First off, can I call you Lexie, or would you prefer Alexa? I notice that different people call you different things, and you seem to be a little particular about it. I don’t want to start this interview off on the wrong foot.

Alexa: You can call me Lexie. I am a little particular about people calling me a nickname when they don’t really know me. It’s always bugged me. I think you should know someone a little before you start acting so personal. I feel like we know each other Hilary, so it’s fine if you call me Lexie.

Hilary: I’m happy to hear you feel that way. You don’t let a whole lot of people get close to you. Anyway, Luke calls you Hooka, Marissa calls you Lex most of the time, and Julian has a whole lot of nicknames for you. Which do you prefer?

Alexa: The hooka thing always gets a few eyebrow raises and questions. Luke calls me Hooka because we’re huge True Blood fans and one of the characters on the show - Layfette- uses that nickname. Luke called me it one day and it just stuck. I wouldn’t want anyone else to call me that though, for obvious reasons. (laughing). Marissa calls me whatever she wants, but I guess it’s Lex a lot of the time. As for Julian…well, his terms of endearment are all okay by me. I think I’d rather him call me baby or Corazon if I have my choice.

Hilary: I guess it’s obvious why, but I’d think Alexa or Lexie would be okay too.

Alexa: Lexie is fine. He usually calls me Alexa when he isn’t happy with me. He doesn’t notice, but I do.

Hilary: I’ve seen Julian, and I’ve heard him speak. He has such a sexy accent. I think I would let him call me anything to be honest.

Alexa: Ok, now… he’s mine. (laughing)

Hilary: I know, I know. You’re a lucky girl, Lexie. Julian and a whole closet full of shoes… You did know I was going to bring up the shoes, right?

Alexa: Yep. Everyone always brings up the shoes.

Hilary: Because we’re all jealous! How in the world do you afford all of those shoes?

Alexa: You want to talk about the cost? I thought we were going to talk about what’s in style for the summer or who our favorite designers are, Hilary…

Hilary: I’m not sure we have enough time for that, Lexie. So, how about you just give us novices a few tips on where to shop.

Alexa: Actually, I spend a lot of time looking for great shoes. I shop online for great deals. Shopbop.com and bluefly.com are on my favorites list and the UPS driver knows my house well. And I’m a regular at TJ Maxx, Nordstrom Rack and places like that. So, I do try to stay in control.

Hilary:  Let’s discuss a few other numbers…as in how many pairs do you own? I swear you’re always wearing a different pair.

Alexa: I plead the fifth on that one too, Hilary. I’ll just say that I really do need a bigger closet.

Hilary: Like Julian’s?

Alexa: (laughs). Yeah. That would be nice. Talk about a lot of expensive shoes…That man makes my love affair with shoes look like amateur hour.

Hilary: (laughs) A lot of couples bond over common interests. Are shoes your bond?

Alexa: God no. At least I hope not. I mean it’s awesome that he loves shoes and appreciates my obsession with quality footwear, but I’d like to think that we’ve bonded over more than shoes.

Hilary: Care to share your thoughts on what that might be?

Alexa: Hmm. You know I’m not a huge fan of sharing secrets and personal stuff and you’re putting me on the spot with this one. But, if I had to answer that I guess I’d say that we just “get” each other. It’s hard to explain because I don’t always understand it myself.

Hilary: And there is the vagueness and dodging we have come to expect from you, Lexie. I get it; you aren’t a big emotional sharer. I’ll respect that...for now.

Alexa: Thanks, Hilary. Thanks for respecting my privacy…for now. It’s not like anyone else does. Everyone always wants to know what I’m thinking. It’s crazy, the stuff that goes through my mind sometimes.

Hilary: We’re all just trying to get to know you better, Lexie.

Alexa: (shrugs) I don’t think I’m particularly interesting or complicated. I’m just a normal girl who is working, living my life and doing the best I can not to screw it all up. I am lucky to have such great friends, and an amazing man to share my life with. And, the shoes make me happy too. I can’t leave out the shoes.

Hilary: (looks at her watch). It seems we’re out of time for now, Lexie.  I look forward to getting to know you, Julian, and the rest of your friends better in the future. I appreciate you taking the time to sit down with me and open up a little about what’s going on in your world. I’m glad to hear things are going well with you and Julian.

Alexa: Thanks for talking with me Hilary and thanks for having me on Lia. I’m always happy to talk shoes.

Hilary: STAY in touch, Lexie, we are all excited to see where your story is heading.

Alexa: Absolutely, Hilary. Have a great night.

Have you ever woken up one day and said, "Today's the day I"m going to do (insert thing here)?"  Well, I did, and the result is my first novel, Stay.  I always thought of myself as a decent writer, and then a trip down memory lane through my ninth grade book of poetry confirmed i.  I realize that I have always had a romantic side and way with words.  With support from my husband and kids (and an unspoken agreement to leave me alone for a few hours every night), I embarked on this incredible writing journey.

I'm originally from sunny Southern California and spent my summers in South Florida.  I attended college at FSU and received my Masters in New Mexico.  I finally settled in the Washington, DC area. My happy place has always been anywhere near the water.

When I'm not writing, I help run a business with my husband, watch an inordinate amount of sports (my kids play something 365 days a year), indulge my competitive spirit on the tennis court, and spend time with my awesome family and friends.

I am a avid reader, but find my characters feel neglected when I hang ou with the other author's characters for too long.  When I do read, historical fiction is my favorite genre.  I love traveling and experiencing different cultures, places, and times.

I feel so blessed that my love of books inspired me to finally do something that I forgot I had always dreamed about doing.

My someday has arrived!!

[ #Excerpt + Character Interview + #Giveaways] Unbearable Guilt by @EGrayson_Author

UnbearableGuilt

I'm happy to share not only an excerpt and Two great giveaways with you today.. but also a character interview with Kane from Unbearable Guilt.  He's a man of few words..

Unbearable Guilt
(Breathe Again #2)

by:  Emma Grayson

Blurb:

Kane Archer hasn't always been tormented; he hasn't always hated himself or been full of rage.  He hasn't always lived his life with an overpowering sense of guilt that threatens to destroy him.

There was a time when his life was different.  He was optimistic; he smiled and laughed; he loved passionately; he had it all.

Kane was content -- until the unthinkable took it all away.

Emotionally numb, stricken by guilt, and haunted by the events preceding Aimee's death, the last thing Kane wanted was to meet someone he connected with; someone who made him feel again.

As Kane gets closer to those responsible for Aimee's death, he is thrown a curveball when he discovers a secret so devastating it rocks his world and threatens to destroy his chance at happiness.

Whitney Jareau packed her life when tragedy struck her family, leaving everything behind.  Finally free from the persistent and domineering family that insisted she do the one thing she couldn't, Whitney found peace in Camden.

Two years later, her family wants her to come home and will stop at nothing to get her there.  Wearing her heart on her sleeve for Kane Archer, a man so gorgeous it hurts to see the pain he carries, Whitney fights her family and refuses to return home to carry out their wishes.

Can Whitney stay strong without giving in to the demands of her family?

Can Kane let go of the past and move forward with the woman who brought him back to life?

Or, will he walk away from her and carry the burden of  UNBEARABLE GUILT...

Character Interview w/ Kane Archer

First and foremost, please tell us how you maintain your killer body.

Simple.  I work out every day.  I do a lot of cardio and weight lifting as well as kick boxing.

What is your favorite feature of a woman?

Other than the eyes, legs. Love a woman with a nice pair of legs that can wrap around me perfectly -- like Whitney's.

Tell us about the first time you laid eyes on Whitney.

I hadn't been back in Camden for long and I saw her in Beans...  I hadn't seen anyone as beautiful as her in a very long time.  I suddenly wasn't sure I wanted to leave Camden as quick as I planned.

What about Whitney sparked your interest?

How nervous I made her.  Every time I saw her, I could see the nervousness ripple through her.  It intrigued me.  Plus, her eyes are pretty fuckin' gorgeous, they have a calming effect that I'd never experienced before.

Who impacted your life mostly?

Joining the army.  I don't know where life would have taken me if I wouldn't have joined.

Favorite junk food?

I think that's pretty obvious, M&M peanuts.

Favorite drink?

Again, obviously it's Red bull or whiskey or water.

If you could live anywhere on Earth where would that be and why?

On a beach, somewhere where there isn't any goddamn snow - hate that shit.

Do you believe in aliens?

Aren't we aliens in our own way?

What is your biggest regret?

Not talking to Luke more

Biggest fear?

Losing Whitney

What is your favorite position?

Missionary -- I like it nice and deep, darlin'.

Favorite kind of music -- and band or artist?

I like a little bit of everything, but favorite I'd have to go with Metallica or Slipknot.

I have to say, I'm pretty interested in the tattoo you have on the side of your ribs, can you share with us what it says and maybe what it means?

It's some of the lyrics to Metallica's Fade to Black.  It says...

I have lost the will to live
Simply nothing more to give
There is nothing more for me
Need the end to set me free

Things not what they used to be
Missing one inside of me
Deathly lost, this can't be real
Cannot stand this hell I feel

Emptiness is filling me

To the point of agony
Growing darkness taking dawn
I was me, but now he's gone

I was in a dark place at the time of getting it, but it's a reminder at just how quickly life can turn on you, and reminds me of a place I was at one time -- one I don't ever wanna revisit.

It's pretty dark, is it safe to assume you're no longer in a dark place?

What do you think?

Tell us something we don't know about you.

Luke will deny I ever said this, but I kick his ass every damn time at Call of Duty.  He'll tell you he kicks my ass, but he's full of shit- the guy has a weak shot.

I'm also a baseball fan, I hate seafood, I taught myself to play the guitar while overseas, and my favorite movie is Hang 'Em High -  I'm an Eastwood fan.

Next thing he was gone, and I could almost breathe again. As it became easier to breathe, I rolled and pulled myself to my feet, and then looked around to see where the girl was. I saw her a couple of feet away, sitting on the ground with her shirt pulled tightly around her, and her knees to her chest. As I made my way towards her, the sounds of fighting echoed behind me, making me stop in my tracks and look over my shoulder.

I watched as Kane punched the guy across the face and he stumbled backwards. Kane then took a step forward and grabbed the guy, throwing him to the side like it was nothing. The guy fell to the ground and quickly tried to scramble away, but Kane’s boot meeting with his ribs stopped him.

The guy stopped moving, his hand finding the spot where Kane had kicked him. I watched Kane walk over and stand over him. The guy spit, his body jerking to the side to move, but Kane anticipated his move and his foot found the other side of his rib cage. The guy’s painful howl echoed throughout the alleyway.

As I stumbled over to the girl, I noticed Kessel crouched down next to her, making sure she was all right. Ignoring the dizziness in my head and the Jell-O like feeling in my legs, I crouched down next to her.

“You okay, hun?” I asked, hissing in pain as I unzipped my hoodie then wrapped it around her shoulders.

“I think so, h—he didn’t, y—you got here j—just in time,” she croaked out, pulling my hoodie around her tighter.

And thank God.

I closed my eyes and nodded, feeling relieved.

“Thank you, you . . . didn’t have to d—do that.”

“Yes I did.”

I knew I wouldn’t have been able to live with myself if I hadn’t. If it had been me, and someone had heard and knew I was there, I would have wanted them to save me, and not just leave me there to try and fight him away myself and let the inevitable happen.

“Are you okay?” the girl asked, looking me over.

I nodded, reassuring her. “Yeah, I’m just—ouch, what the hell!” I exclaimed when someone grabbed my arm and pulled me to my feet.

When I turned, I was met with a pair of dark, blazing green eyes that sliced into me like a knife in butter.

Oh boy.

Holy shit!

Kane was pissed.

No, he was beyond pissed.

He was furious. If we were in a cartoon, I was sure he’d be foaming from the mouth as steam blew out from his ears.

His grip around my arm tightened, not enough to hurt me, but enough to keep me in place and unable to move away from him.

“What the fuck was that?” he bit out through gritted teeth.

“Kane, I’m fine—”

“Don’t!” he barked. “What the fuck was going through your head that made you think that was a smart idea? What the hell were you thinking?” he asked, glaring at me, his jaw tightly clenched. His eyes were dark and the size of dimes.

“I wasn’t,” I said, pulling my arm free from his grasp. “And stop looking at me like that. There was no other choice, I couldn’t just leave her—I had to do something.”

You could have been hurt—more than you are,” he said, looking over my face before his eyes dropped down over my body. “Or worse; what if we didn’t get here in time? Then what? Were you just going to roll around on the ground until someone came?”

“I wasn’t worried,” I told him, the cool night air blowing across my bear arms as I crossed them over my chest. “I knew you’d get here like you said.”

“You don’t know that for sure,” he retorted, his angry face inching closer to mine.

As my face moved towards his, I could see his chest heaving up and down like he was fighting to stay in control. “Yes, I do,” I whispered firmly, my eyes dead-set with his.

Neither of us said another word. We just stood a foot apart with our eyes locked, staring each other down.

He was livid. I could see it in his taut body and through his eyes as they blazed back at me, but there was something else there along with the anger, something that I could feel radiating off him and swirling around us like a giant storm cloud.

Fear.

There was no mistaking it. I knew what fear looked like.

Interview with an over-the-top freakishly fun Book BFF

Today we’re chatting with Jenny, best friend of Corabelle, the main character of Deanna Roy’s Forever Series, including the bestselling Forever Innocent (on sale for 99 cents through Jan. 24) and the sequel Forever Loved, which just came out Jan. 10.

Hair color: PINK! Of course. Oh, you mean the real stuff? No telling. I’ve been pink since I was 13. Probably some horrid ashy brown. The world will never know, thanks to Manic Panic. (My bathroom always looks someone just murdered Strawberry Shortcake.)

Eye color: A bizarre grayish dull green. No emerald or sapphire or any other cool romance novel color. (Stupid author. Can I at least be jade? In fact, can I change my name to Jade? I don’t know what she was thinking when she named me Jenny. I am not girl-next-door-name material.)

Height: What is this? A physical exam? With boots or without? I can reach the top shelf in my kitchen in my tin-foil stilettos, so does that make me 5’9”? We’ll go with 5’9”. BTW, don’t ask my weight or I’ll mix Manic Panic with your hair gel. And not a cool color either. Think seaweed.

School: UC San Diego. I’ve been undecided since kindergarten. I’m a junior credit-wise although I’ve only been there two years. Ha, you thought I was an airhead. I placed out of twelve hours, people. Pink hair does not equal dumb. I’m aware that I have to decide something sometime. Right now I’m cool with being well-rounded arm candy.

Work: I’ve been slinging coffee at Cool Beans for about six months. That’s how I met Corabelle. Anybody THAT sad needed somebody like me in her life. Studying nonstop when you are not even taking classes is like, I don’t know, bad for your mental health. I make her get out in the world. Engage. Other than boyz. She won’t go near them. Which means more for me. This is a very workable plan.

Boyfriend: Is that singular? I mean, not that I am a big fat cheater (not in my mind) or polyamorist (I love that word), just that there can be, sometimes, a little crossover. See, not every guy goes for me. I mean, they like to LOOK, and often they like to FEEL UP (some parts more than others), but I have to separate the taste testers from the gourmets, you know? So sometimes I am looking for one just a tad bit before I let go of the other. It’s all about life boats. You wouldn’t jump ship until you had one, am I right?

BFF:  Corabelle works for me. I’m hard to be friends with. I know I’m a flirt. I’m as subtle as Miley Cyrus on an award show. So a lot of girls won’t be around me. They think I’ll steal their boyfriends. But I have a code. It’s a serious set of rules I don’t violate, not ever. No boys of friends. No ex-boys of friends. Never ever. So see, I’m not so bad. Just know that if we’re out clubbing, if I see him first, you better stake your claim in a hurry, or else, he’s MINE.

You can follow Jenny’s amusingly not-so-covert relationship with her TA in Forever Innocent (just 99 cents through Jan. 24).
