DANGER AND ROMANCE

…Roll like thunder in Kat Bonner’s world, when a known felon comes to the ranch to drop a bomb about her past. Kat turns to Pierce for help, the same Pierce who bucks her every chance he gets … and whose feverish investigation lands them in trouble with the law and directly in the path of a serial killer. Mystery deepens, fraught with wrong turns, bumbling detectives, old murders, and Kat’s doppelganger no one ever sees but her, just as she never sees the change in Pierce’s feelings toward her brewing, mounting, until she can no longer deny them.

My Thoughts :

Mirror Deep combines a murder-mystery, romance and suspense all in one.  Katherine (Kat) Bonner grew up on a horse ranch and competes in Dressage.  She has learned to be basically a horse whisperer from her mother and does it very well.  I have always loved horses, although I no longer own any myself, and love to read romances where the author really researches and writes well about the horse world.   Kat's life is going along fine, she has a boyfriend- really booty call, a hot 2nd cousin who makes her feel strangely and a career teaching and working with horses.

All this changes with one secret that will change her life forever.  The secret about her past is spilled and suddenly people are being murdered left and right.  Kat ends up deep in the investigation and also a possible target of this serial killer.

I really enjoyed the characters - Kat, Lauren (her cousin and Pierce's sister) and Pierce!  They were well rounded characters that the author built on nicely!   The storyline went smoothly - I loved the horse bits (remember- horse freak here!) and the bits of romance scattered throughout. The romance was a clean version- no descriptive sex scenes.  There were so many different things going on and I was constantly guessing what would happen next, only to be wrong half the time!  The author had me completely convinced of the killer until suddenly things twisted slightly and I realized I was completely wrong! ha!  I loved it!

I think this book will appeal to murder-mystery lovers as well as romance lovers.
