"I own you.  I have the piece of paper to prove it.  It's undeniable and unbreakable.  You belong to me until you've paid off your debts."

Nila Weaver's family is indebted.  Being the first born daughter, her life is forfeit to the first born son of the Hawks to pay for sins of ancestors past.  The dark  ages might have come and gone, but debts never leave.  She has no choice in the matter.

She is no longer free.

Jethro Hawk receives Nila as an inheritance present on his twenty-ninth birthday.  Her life is his until she's paid off a debt that's centuries old.  He can do what he likes with her - nothing is out of bounds- she has to obey.

There are no rules.  Only payments.

MY THOUGHTS :

I had high expectations of this book.  It had potential to be great.  I mean read the blurb above! It looks like it could be a story that might possibly end with a HEA.  Instead I am left with a mind f*ck that I feel the need to scour my brain a bit.  It is labeled as an adult romance.  Quite honestly, I'm not seeing the romance in it?  Sex or at least sexual related scenes?  Yes, actually no- it's rape.   Romance or even the remote possibility of romance? No.  Just no.  Nila is taken against her will by Jethro.  I take that back, she goes willingly only with the threat of death to her brother & father if she doesn't.  She is submitted to sexual assaults by a room full of men to learn the truth behind why the Hawks own the Weavers.  Initially I thought maybe she would somehow fall for her captor and turn things around, make him turn good.. I have given up that hope. Knowing that these people killed her mother makes me wonder how we can ever expect any romance out of this?  Suspense? Sure.. I am anxiously waiting to find out how she ends up murdering the entire group of men..   I finished the entire book and was left at a point where quite honestly, I am tempted to buy the next installment just to find out if she does get away or if she somehow kills them all.  I can not imagine how the author might turn this around into a romance vs a book about rape...  Instead I think I'll go wipe my brain out with a nice HEA in order to erase the dirty feeling this book invoked.

Make your own decision and let me know if you disagree.  Amazon has many many MANY 4+* ratings.
