~  Interview Time ~

Hi Catherine!  Welcome to Reviewing in Chaos!  Not Quite Mine is book 2 in the Not Quite series, tell us a little bit about it and how many might we expect out of this series?

Not Quite Mine is the story about Katie and Dean. My readers will remember both characters from Not Quite Dating. Katie is a hotel heiress with everything in her life but the man she loves. Dean is Katie’s brother’s best friend… who once had an affair with Katie. *sigh* Now it’s time to bring these two back together.

As for how many book are in the series. Right now there are three slated. Not Quite Enough, Monica’s story, will be out in October. But I don’t want to limit myself and say there will only be 3 books. You never know.

I'm holding you to this.. Three books will never be enough for me.  I hope the characters keep pestering you and you keep writing more and more.. and more.. lol

I’m always interested in the writing process- where did the idea(s) for the Not Quite series begin?

Because it’s book two it’s safe to say the ideas began in book one. I love to write about families and each and every person within the pages has a story to tell.

Is there any favorite or memorable character in the Not Quite series that you have felt connected to?

Monica and I share a bond. By the time we get to Monica’s book, she works in the ER as a nurse. As many people know, in my non-writing life I worked in the ER as a nurse, too. When you read her story I think you’ll get a glimpse of a day in the life of what Catherine Bybee used to be.

Moving on to your writing career, how long have you been writing? Did you always dream to become an author?

I’ve been writing for five years or so. Have I always wanted to be a writer? Ah, no. I wanted to be an actress. But waiting tables sucked. I did have the ability to weave a story, however…so I decided to try my hand at this writing gig. And boy am I happy I did. Love, love, love it!

Have you ever experienced writer’s block?  If so, how were you able to get around it?

Not really. Every book has pages that nearly write themselves, and others that require the author to push through to the other side. I force myself to write several pages a day whenever the story isn’t ‘coming’ to me.

I’m always curious whether or not authors read the same types of books that they write.  So tell us, what book genres do you love to read? to write?

I love romance! I read romance every chance I get. I don’t want to be depressed when I finish a book.

What are you reading right now?

Nothing… I’m on a deadline. LOL

Deadlines are good things!  Get those books done so I can read them, my dear! Lol! :)

A few fun questions …

If you could jump into a book and live there, which one would it be and why?

Probably one of my time travels. That way I can have paranormal abilities and all the memories of the 21st century.

If you were stranded on a deserted island with only one book- what would it be?   I know many of my favorites I can read over and over and over again

I can’t answer that. And since I’m a writer, I’d be able to create my own anyway. J

Well that's just not fair!  The next time I'm asked that question I'm just going to have to take you instead of one of your books. Then you can constantly create new stories for me..  oohhh, that's a darn good plan!

Do you have any upcoming projects?

Always. I’m working on the 4th book in my Weekday Bride series, Single by Saturday and then I’ll be working on the much anticipated 5th book in my time travel series. My readers send me emails daily asking about Amber! “It’s coming!”

Thanks so much for stopping by today!!

Thank you for having me.

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Paperback & Kindle
ISBN: 978-1611099515

Book Description :

Gorgeous hotel heiress Katelyn “Katie” Morrison seems to have it all. But when she crosses paths with Dean Prescott—the only man she’s ever
loved—at her brother’s wedding, Katie realizes there’s a gaping hole in her life. After the ceremony she gets an even bigger surprise: a baby girl left on her doorstep. Determined to keep the newborn until she learns who her mother is, Katie has her hands full and doesn’t need Dean snooping around…especially when his presence stirs feelings she thought were long gone..
Dean Prescott knows Katie is lying to him about the baby. He shouldn’t
care what the woman who broke his heart is up to…and he most
certainly shouldn’t still be aching for her. Yet Dean can’t ignore the need
to protect Katie—or the desire to be near her every chance he gets. But
when he and Katie solve the mystery surrounding the baby, their second
chance for happiness could be shattered forever.

My Thoughts :

Oh, where do I start?  While I loved Jack & Jessie in book 1,  Dean (oh Dean.. yum) and Katie really touched my hearts in book 2.  It could have been the construction site scenes with Katie running around in high heels and stealing Dean's hard hat ( I don't know about you but when I'm picturing construction scenes- the guys are all super buff and most likely shirtless.. lol) or maybe the baby dropped on Katie's doorstep.  As an adoptive mom, I remember those fears and worries that Katie had as she struggled with not falling in love immediately with this precious newborn that she wasn't sure she could keep.  Oh the emotions.

Not Quite Mine flows so smoothly that it doesn't feel like a sequel.  So many times after reading a good book, you wonder if the next one will be just as good.  No, it's even better!  We still get the needed sampling of Jack & Jessie -which I love seeing bits of their happily ever after!  Second chance love between Dean & Katie, throwing a baby into the mix and Katie's sudden turn into 'adulthood' is a combination you just can't miss. I could go on and on about all that I loved in this book but instead I'm just going to tell you to go buy it!  Now!  Quick!  Get them both and get caught up so you'll be ready when Not Quite Enough comes out in October!!
