Interview & #giveaway with Jacqueline Paige !

Today, I am happy to share with you an interview with Jacqueline Paige author of the   Series !  I hope you enjoy her time here as much as I did!  Be sure to enter the giveaway below for your chance at some great prizes !

1. Let’s start out easy.. Tell us a little bit about your book.

Winter Mist is the fifth book in the Magic Seasons series.  It’s the story of Patrick (undercover cop) and Rhonda (surviving victim from book 2).

When Patrick’s cover is blown and he is badly injured, the group of friends pull together to keep him and the recovering victim of a killer safe.  As a result, the group of twelve become targets of the criminals after Patrick and have to live together in a safe house for Yule.

2. What inspired you to write this story?

I actually didn’t have this story plotted to be written, but the characters had other ideas and wouldn’t leave me alone until I sat down started playing with ideas.  When I did start writing it, I planned to draw everything together and tie up a few loose ends from the series…it didn’t end up that way at all.  I have a feeling that there will be more from the gang in the Magic Seasons in the future.

Although it might be a pain for the author, as a reader- I simply love when the characters won't quit.. Just when I think the series is over and I go into my post-series depression, a new book is written and I can rejoice again!  :)
  3. What is the main lesson that your book is trying to teach?

:)  It’s so clear, “don’t mess with a group of witches, especially the women, it’s bad for your health.”  lol

Lmao!  That is a dang good lesson !!

4. Moving on to your writing career, how long have you been writing? Did you always dream to become an author?

I have only been seriously writing since 2006.  It wasn’t something I set out to do, but have been doing every day since that first paragraph flew from my fingers onto the screen.  I wrote years ago, not expecting it to go anywhere and then when I started having my children, all thoughts of doing anything with it kind of got lost in life…I have five children.

As a mom to 6 children, I can totally relate to that!!  I'm impressed that you have done so much with 5 kids!!

5. I’m always curious whether or not authors read the same types of books that they write.  So tell us, what book genres do you love to read? to write?

I will read just about any genre.  Do I read paranormal stories? You betcha, only I read much darker stories than I write.  My faves would fall into the dark fantasy/urban fantasy category.
I write anything paranormal, whether it’s witches and ghosts or physics and (recently) shifters. I love where you can take that genre…anywhere you want.

6. What are you reading right now?

I actually borrowed something from one of my kids shelves.  Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Chronicles of Nick books.  I’ve read all of her dark-hunter / dream-hunter / were- hunter / hell chaser books and reading Nick’s side of things is actually adding a lot of insight into the other characters.

I haven't read any of her work. I'll definitely have to look into it ! :)

7. Have any particular authors inspired you to write? If so, can you name one and what you like about their style?

That’s a hard one to answer.  I do know I would never have given up on writing (regardless of how many munchkins I had) if the ‘allowable’ had been what it is today.  Don’t get me wrong, contemporary is a great read, but too predictable for me to ever enjoy writing.  I don’t think I would have tried in a serious way if it hadn’t been for authors like Nora Roberts, Christine Feehan and Sherrilyn Kenyon (the first three that popped into my head from the paranormal flavor) today the reading market is absolutely amazing, anything goes.

I blame all of the ‘big’ authors out there that pushed until their original ideas and not-so-normal characters were heard, I may never write like any one of them but without them I’d still be reading (and probably not writing at all) mildly adventurous contemporary books.

8. Do you have any upcoming projects?

I am currently finishing up with the third book in my Hidden Senses Trilogy (physic’s stories)– Inner Reflections.  I also have a first in a new witch trilogy at the Beta readers right now.  The Witch Within from the Ancestor’s Magic Trilogy.  Just because I like to never find the time to sleep I’m also working on the second book in the Animal Trilogy – Animal Scent.

Thanks so much for having me here today! :)

Good Gracious girl!!  You are one busy woman!!    Thanks so much for stopping by!!
