Happy Valentine's Day everyone! I hope your day is filled with hearts and flowers and lots of chocolate , of course! Or maybe just a day spent with a really good book- that works for me! I'm pleased to welcome Sky Purington , author of Highland Defiance, today as a guest poster!
Thanks so much for having me over. Wishing everyone a very Happy Valentine’s Day! I thought on such a day it might be fun to share ten fabulously romantic moments from my latest release, Highland Defiance. So sit back, relax and think romance.
1. His head lowered until their lips were within inches. “I never stopped thinking about you, Mildred. And now you’re back.” His lips came so close that the corner of his met the corner of hers. “Are you here for me?”
2. For all she thought she was in control with her feminine wiles, one look at him leaning against the wall in full highland attire stopped her dead in her tracks. He was, in all sense of the word, perfection, beyond handsome. As she stood there staring at him with his plaid wrapped to perfection over a warrior’s physique done up to par with black boots, easily six-foot four, black hair tousled, sapphire eyes arresting, she felt a sharp pang in her heart.
3. “With you it was different. You never left me… my visions, dreams.”
4. Questions should be asked. Answers should be given. Yet when their eyes met, Mildred knew that tonight was not the time. Tomorrow was another day. Her eyes scanned the holding as she took another sip. No, tonight was one of peace and not worrying about what might come next. This night belonged to her and Adlin. A little blip in time that she knew with all her heart would change her life.
5. Before she knew it he had her spinning around the fire, their bodies close, his promise in her ear. “I’ll never stop looking at you.”
6. His thumb brushed her lower lip before he cupped the side of her cheek. Soft, eager, his lips touched hers then pulled back. “I love you, Mildred. Always have.
7. Caught in color, feeling, emotion, she turned in his arms, her lips turned up to his. Ready, Adlin’s lips crashed down on hers, caught up as much in her as she was in him. He pulled her close and they fell into a mutual, mind-blowing passion, something powerful and rare and all theirs.
8. Adlin nuzzled her neck and whispered. “You’ll always find everything about me admirable no matter what. The way I think, the way I challenge you…” his hand ran along her thigh. “The way I touch you. All of these things will stay with you. Whether or not you know it now, I will always be the great love of your life.”
9. He wrapped a fur cloak over her shoulders and came close. “There has never been and never will be another like you. I do love you, Mildred.”
10. Their lips covered one another’s, eager, unrelenting, never-ending. Mildred was lost yet again. The beautiful sunrise, all of it, seemed like nothing when compared with being in his arms. Lips willing, searching, seeking, she lost all concept of time.
