Summer Break Blues- Guest Post by J.A. Campbell & #giveaway

Today, I welcome a guest post by author J.A. Campbell !  I love reading more about the author's thoughts on their characters!!

Kelly, Thank you for having me on Reviewing in Chaos! It’s a pleasure to be here.

Today I’m going to talk a little about my favorite characters in my young adult urban fantasy series, Clanless. The second novel, Summer Break Blues, just came out and I’ve had a couple of years and several thousand words to get to know the cast.

I go back and forth between Gage and Alexander as my favorites. I love Meg, and Steph’s steadfast devotion to her friendship with Meg is great to write, but Gage and Alexander amuse the heck out of me.

Alexander’s unusual heritage *minor spoiler if you haven’t read Senior Year Bites yet* gives him some interesting depth. He’s a half-sidhe. His mother is human and his father a member of the Sidhe courts. We’ll meet both of his parents in the next novel. This gives him some interesting conflicts of interest and a slightly different twist on his worldview that is a lot of fun to play with. He’s also an arrogant ass most of the time, and I never thought he’d ever be nice to Meg. I know my characters well, but sometimes they surprise me.

Gage is a country boy from Montana. He owns a shotgun, well, he owns several guns but he only brought his shotgun to college, and he’s not afraid to shoot something supernatural with it. He even loads his own silver buckshot. He’s laid back, but sometimes very intense, loyal and steady in a fight. Man after my own heart. He’s also a lot of fun to write. We’ll see more of him in the next novel.

I like all of my characters. Even the ones that piss people off, like Ann, but Gage and Alexander are just extra fun to write.

Thank you so much for having me here.

 Blurb:

Meg managed to survive her senior year of high school as a vampire, and now she’s looking forward to a relaxing summer with her friends before trying to tackle college. Unfortunately, some unfinished business from the previous year rears its ugly head and Meg is forced to deal with the Sidhe who are distinctly unhappy that she killed one of their kind last winter. Then Ann’s parents vanish while they are on their annual summer vacation in Maine and it’s up to Meg and the rest of the gang to come to the rescue. Though she is still trying to figure out who, and what she has become, Meg and her friends feel they are up to the challenge. That is until things really start to fall apart.
