Liz’s Top Five Favorite Mystery NovelsI love mysteries. It is always a race to figure out what is happening before I am supposed to know—it makes me feel smart. In honor of my second mystery novel coming out, I have compiled my list of favorite mysteries to date.1. Silence of the Lambs by Thomas Harris. I will contend that Hannibal Lecter is the best villain ever created. He is scary and sympathetic.2. The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield. This is a blend of two of my favorite things: gothic romance and a twisted family mystery. If you haven’t read it, check it out.3. Kiss the Girls by James Patterson. This is a wonderful whodunit. It took me forever to figure out who the killer was and this was also the first Alex Cross book I have read.4. The Big Sleep by Raymond Chandler. I love gritty detective novels. I especially love this noir era of novels and the quick dialogue that almost has its own beat. You can hear it in your head and are instantly transported to another time.5. The Hounds of Baskerville by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. I will admit from the start that I am not a Sherlock Holmes fan. It isn’t that he isn’t a brilliant character, he is. But I have an issue with how mean he is to poor Watson. However, if you are going to read Sherlock, this is my favorite one. I like the staging and the spooky supernatural type mystery.
Thank you for hanging out with me today and thank you for hosting me on your blog!
What is your favorite mystery?
Thanks for joining us today Liz!! My favorite mystery? hmm.. I'm a big James Patterson fan as well so I think I'd have to vote that route. :) Okay my peeps- tell us your favorites! Here's more on Liz's own little mystery - if you haven't read Dark Corners (book 1), it was amazing and I was constantly re-guessing over and over!
Dark Passing (The Ella Reynolds Series)
Mary Nelson’s murder shocked the small town of Jackson. The vibrant, young college student disappeared on her way home. A week later her body was found in the trunk of a burning car. No suspects. No evidence. No case. Ella Reynolds’ life had finally turned around. With a new book released, the past safely tucked away, and a burgeoning romance, she begins to live again. Then a plea from a woman whose daughter’s murder remains unsolved ignites Ella’s curiosity—and drags her back into the dark world she fought so desperately to escape. Curiosity turns to obsession as Ella inches closer to the truth—and the murderer begins to claim new victims.
