Book Description:

Pulled Back Through Time, Shandelle Is Caught Between An Enduring Love And A Wizard’s Magic.

In the beginning of time, one soul splits into two. Lifetime after lifetime, the two souls are reborn and seek to reunite. Like a beacon of light from heaven above, their light shines for each other. Without the other, there is only darkness. A wonderful blessing that can only come from a deeply-bonded love, the sharing of one soul can also be a black curse if something disrupts the moment of their coming together.

Ireland 1323 - Donovan, chieftain of the Clan O'Brien, has unsuccessfully searched his entire adult life, to the detriment of his clan and all those around him, for that elusive possession that will bring his soul peace. He doesn't know what it is, but he will give up everything to find it. One day, he is summoned by the Wizard and told the secret of his obsession—his soul mate. She is no longer living in his time, but there is a way to bring her back to him.

Phoenix 2013 - Shandelle and Ian are embarking on their new life together. She is everything Ian ever wanted but never realized he needed before he met her. Shandelle is a generous soul who lives to make Ian and everyone around her happy. Unfortunately for them both, evil is stalking them. The blood bond duty of a close friend brings betrayal and evil into their lives. How were they to know that the death of a six-year-old girl in the early fourteenth century could have such grave consequences on their lives today?

~ Excerpt ~

Phoenix, Arizona 2013They raised their champagne flutes and clinked them together. Shandelle couldn't stop giggling. "I've never had a champagne breakfast before. I'm kind of digging this." The women’s laughter rang out from the table as the looks from the other diners went unnoticed.
Taylor snorted. "I got that idea when I refilled your glass for the fourth time. We haven't even been served our breakfast yet!"
Maeve looked at the golden liquid in her flute and raised it again. "Chill out, Taylor. I've got plenty of aspirin to get us through the day or at least until our champagne lunch. All our bases are covered."
"I'll drink to that!" Shandelle’s words slurred slightly as she raised her glass in a toast. "Happy Birthday to me!"
Taylor's glass hit the table with a dull thud after she joined in the toast. Excitedly bouncing up and down on her chair, she cried, "I can't wait. I'm giving you your birthday present right now." She reached into her Volkswagen-sized purse and pulled out a beautifully-wrapped birthday present.
"Hey! No fair. You said we were going to wait to give her our presents," Maeve protested.
"Well, I don't really want anyone else besides us to see what I got her." With a devilish grin, Taylor turned to Maeve and wiggled her eyebrows.
Getting into the spirit, Maeve grabbed Shandelle's hand and pleaded, "Hurry! Open it. I can't wait to see what she got you.” Tossing her head in Taylor’s direction, she said, “It's got to be really good to rate that expression on her face."
Taylor handed the gift to Shandelle, who shook it. Then she held it to her ear and listened. "Oh for God's sake, Shandelle, just open it already!" snapped Taylor.
Shredding the paper as she tore open the gift, Shandelle set the unwrapped box in front of her. She gently tipped the end of the box top and peeked inside just in case there was something naughty in it. She smiled to herself as she wondered just how mischievous Taylor could be. When she opened the box, confusion crossed her face. She looked questioningly at Taylor.
Maeve couldn't take it any longer. "What is it? Show me!" she shouted.
Shandelle pulled a beautiful tartan kilt from the box. Under the kilt was a collapsible, bejeweled, toy sword. Immediately, Shandelle's mind rushed to Ian and the first image she had of him. Her grin stretched from ear to ear. "Oh my God! I can't believe after all this time, you remembered!" She and Taylor laughed so hard, tears ran down their cheeks. Maeve sat back, her arms crossed across her chest, pouting. "I don't get it. Why don't I get it?"
Shandelle reached across the table for Maeve's hand. After a moment, Maeve clasped her hand. "Didn't I ever tell you about the first time I met Ian?" Shandelle asked.
Hurt, but not wanting to show it, Maeve replied, "You told me that you met at a children's school music performance." She continued to hold Shandelle's hand but shrugged her shoulders so her friends wouldn’t realize how left out she felt. "But, I don't see what that has to do with a kilt."
Shandelle turned to Taylor. "Fill the glasses up! I'm going to tell the story that changed my life."

About the Author:

I’ve been an avid reader for years. To my husband’s dismay, I have bookshelves full of books, rooms full of books, boxes full of books. My cars have books in them. I just can’t seem to get rid of them after I read them. You just never know when you will want to read it again, right? When my husband bought me a Kindle, it cut down on our need for storage, but it opened me up to books that I might never have experienced otherwise.

The biggest transition in my relationship with books occurred, however, when I, much to my surprise, became an author. I had started having dreams about people I didn’t know. I started looking forward to my dreams every night. Then I realized that I was daydreaming about these people as well. I'd just be sitting there, and these people and their antics would pop into my mind. Finally, I gave in and began writing their story down, something I had never dreamed of doing.

After I wrote my first book Maggie Mae, I had do idea what to do with it. After trying the traditional route for a little while, my husband pushed me in the direction of ebooks, and I’ve never looked back.

My books invariably feature strong women. My husband, Michael, and I have raised two strong daughters, Pilar and Shandelle, and they inspire the characters in my stories. As a matter of fact, Pilar was the main character in my book A Brother’s Love, and Shandelle is the main character in my new release Soul Mates. Justice for Emily was the most difficult book I’ve written, and that was because Emily was the victim of a sadistic, cruel, and abusive husband, who just happened to be the Chief of Police. One of my readers described this books as a “good mystery laced with sex, violence, ghosts and spirits.” The only thing her summary left out was the strength of the two women in this story: Emily and Rachael.

I’ve had fun with all the books I’ve written. I think the fact that I insert real events into my books, things that have actually happened in my family’s lives, is like having a private joke. Knowing that Michael Rogers in Maggie Mae is based on my husband tickles my fancy. I am a very lucky woman!

Although I write romance novels, they always contain a paranormal twist. My latest, Soul Mates, has the added element of time travel accomplished through the magical arts. I imagine my future writings will always contain romance with strong women and men of character, influenced by events that reach beyond what we consider normal, and perhaps seasoned with a little touch of whimsy.

[Excerpts] Seven Seals Series (Books 1 & 2) by @Traci_Douglass

Today we are looking into the first two books in the Seven Seals Series!  I'm thrilled to be able to offer you an excerpt from each book!  Get a good look , I think this is going to be a great series!

Seal Of Surrender
Seven Seals Series: Book 2
Traci Douglass

Genre: Paranormal Romance/Urban Fantasy

Publisher: Crimson Romance

Number of pages: approx. 270
Word Count: 72,000

Book Description:

Love, like War, will always find a way…

War has shaped every aspect of Irena Soldan’s life—her childhood, her work, her DNA. Unaware she is the genetic host of the second Seal of the Apocalypse, Irena battles for those who cannot fight for themselves. As a top human-rights operative for The Omega Consortium, her company provides both the financial backing required to undertake her task and a charismatic, publicity-loving boss to promote her cause. Life proceeds on plan for Irena until a mysterious, sexy stranger arrives claiming to be her guardian and Irena’s path takes a sudden, inauspicious turn for both the erotic and the lethal.

Chago has always been the quiet one amongst his warrior Scion brethren—the brooding, Spanish combat expert with a hidden soft side.  A member of Divinity’s covert special forces, he’s protected humanity for more than a millennium. Still, his greatest joy comes not from the battlefield, but from tending the cattle herd on his remote Montana ranch.

Irena’s new assignment takes her straight to the heart of a bloody civil conflict in Sub-Saharan Africa and Chago’s mission demands he follow. Expecting a seething cauldron of female whoop-ass, he instead discovers a harbinger of peace amidst a world of ever-increasing violence. The explosively tense situation is further magnified by the cunning Omega Consortium leader, his ambiguous personal agenda, and an ancient foe whose audacious rise to power threatens the world’s very existence.

Despite the cataclysmic circumstances, an undeniable attraction ignites between Chago and Irena. Together, they must unravel the ancient puzzle of the Seals and discover her employer’s ulterior plans before they both become casualties of War. Soon, both are forced to choose between a past riddled with old torments or risk everything they treasure on a love capable of defeating evil incarnate.

~ Excerpt ~

Irena dropped her gaze and took a sudden interest in her shoes. Funny. She’d been asking herself the same question all night. “And Drake is not my boyfriend.”“Oh, so he’s just your sex buddy then?”“He is not my sex buddy!” Her sexual affairs were none of this man’s damn business anyway. Why should he care who she slept with? Still, she couldn’t seem to stop the excuses. “He was ... available.”Cringe. Her overloud pronouncement echoed through the vacant lobby. The words sounded crass, cheap. Things she’d never meant to imply. How could she tell a man she’d met only hours before about the terror of the bombing raids? About the deep, gnawing loss she’d experienced when the Burmese school had been struck by mortar fire. About the unquenchable need to reaffirm life. Those were things he couldn’t possibly comprehend. The elevator arrived and they both hustled inside. Chago reached to push the button then returned to his corner, his arms crossed and gaze averted. Irena shuffled uncomfortably in her own space and tried to pretend his presence didn’t disturb the hell out of her.“Look, I’m not easy with my affections, okay?” Shit. There went her mouth again. She didn’t owe this man any explanation for her behavior. So why couldn’t she stop talking? “When you’ve seen the things I have, you need some kind of life affirmation to keep going.”“Hmmm. Is that what they’re calling it these days?”
Irena glanced up to find him focused on the ceiling. She returned to studying the carpet.
“Look. I’m a man of war. I understand the need to affirm life.” Chago sighed, stepping closer to rest his hand on the wall beside her head. “But what occurred in that office was not affirming anything except the fact Drake Benedict is a supreme ... douchebag.”Her bottled-up stress erupted into a catharsis of giggles. To hear such an intimidating guy call her boss a douchebag had been the highlight of Irena’s disastrous evening. His poleaxed expression only made Irena laugh harder. Soon helpless tears streamed down her cheeks. “I—I’m sorry. I can’t stop thinking about the look on Drake’s face when you came out of the closet. Priceless!”He studied her for several moments before cracking a smile of his own. “You really do have shitty taste in men.”“Beware, mister.” She chucked him on the arm, her giggles subsiding. “For a minute downstairs, I thought you were pretty hot too.”His gaze narrowed. “Hot?”
“Don’t worry. The minute has now passed.” “Maybe your taste is improving, querida.”Chago moved closer and grasped her chin, raising her gaze to his. His thumb traced over her lips and incited a tingle that nosedived straight between her legs.Irena’s pulse raced and her throat went arid. The scent of his aftershave, cassis and vanilla, surrounded her. He hovered, allowing her an opportunity to break free. When she didn’t move, Chago closed the miniscule gap between them and his lips brushed softly over hers.

Seal Of Destiny
Seven Seals Series Book One
Traci Douglass

Genre: Paranormal Romance/Urban Fantasy

Publisher: Crimson Romance

Number of pages: 263
Word Count: 70,000

Book Description:

Love conquers all… but can it stop the Apocalypse?
Mira Herald is having the worst life ever.  Not only is she plagued by horrific nightmares starring the Devil himself, she’s now the target of a power-hungry, rogue minion, freshly sprung from Hell and bent on her destruction.  To complicate matters further, she’s acquired a stalker. One who insists he’s a divine warrior sent for her protection because she houses an ancient relic with the power to unleash Armageddon. Last time Mira checked, she wasn’t insane. Still, all this celestial mayhem is enough to drive a girl crazy.
Kagan is a member of the Scion, an elite team of immortal warriors selected by Divinity to aid mankind and save the world. After a century alone, Kagan is summoned for a new mission. He’s eager to begin. Eager until he’s informed his mission consists of protecting a woman with no clue to the power she wields. Plus, his briefing fails to prepare him for his new target’s cosmic-sized attitude problem.  As Divinity’s sworn servant, he’s required to fulfill his duty. His oath, however, does not require him to be enthusiastic about his new assignment or warm-and-fuzzy toward his new compatriot. He plans a wham-bam rescue and a quick return to solitude.
The rogue minion attacks—with the backing of a mysterious organization—and all Hades erupts, putting a fast end to any whirlwind escapes. Accustomed to staunch independence, Mira’s survival now requires full cooperation and an unwavering belief in Kagan. The battle-hardened warrior is also forced to chose: between duty and desire. Amidst the turmoil, Kagan and Mira’s undeniable passion draws them closer to each other and down a path neither expected but both yearn for, more than they ever knew.
Will love save the day? The world’s fate depends on the answer.

“Basta!” Kagan grabbed her by the arm and twisted slightly, not enough to hurt, but enough to let her know he meant business as he directed her to a corner booth. He ignored the half-full beverages and coats scattered on the seats and shoved Mira into the confined space. When the booth’s original owners took issue with his hostile takeover, Kagan dispatched them with a lethal glare. He wasn’t sure where the girl had gotten the idea his mind was damaged, but he was damn sure he didn’t like it. He moved in behind her to block her escape.
“Oh, hell, no!” After several unsuccessful strikes to his muscled physique, Mira tried to slide out beneath the table. The angle proved too awkward. Defeated, she shoved as far away as she could into the corner and propped those killer boots on the seat in front of her in warning. “You better let me out of here, asshole, before I call the cops! I caught you stalking me, pervert!”
Kagan took a deep breath. He never lost his cool in battle, and he wasn’t about to start now. “Pervert? You’re of age, si?”
Mira glared. Kagan ticked through their earlier interactions, searching for a reason behind her intense hostility. His preternatural instincts sensed her intention before her hand reached his carotid. He blocked her quickly, locking her small hand within his and forcing it to the table beneath his own. Her pulse raced against his palm. He took another swig of beer then flashed his most endearing grin. “Let’s start over.” He released his bottle and extended his hand. “I’m Kagan.”
She refused to acquiesce. Kagan spoke in quiet tones meant to calm, to reassure. “I know I’m a stranger, but we have things to discuss.” He glanced around the crowded club, at the bodies packed tight. “We can’t do it here, though—no privacy. My apartment is close. Why don’t we go there and talk?”
Mira kicked him hard in the thigh.
“Merda!” Kagan grabbed his throbbing leg. “What’s in those damn boots? Marble?”
“Let me out of here, jackass, before I sideline your baby-maker!” Mira struggled within the tight confines of the booth. As she squirmed, the spicy scent of her shampoo wafted, and he was overcome with the strangest urge to plunge his hands into the riotous mass of her hair, to feel it curl around his fingers. She tugged on the hand pinned beneath his, and his thumb traced over her thudding veins. His heart pounding along with hers. The odd tingle sped through his torso, and his mouth turned to cotton. Her gaze blazed up at him, a swirling mix of green and golden brown. He noted the dark smudges below and wondered what kept her from slumber.
Dolce Cristo! Kagan looked away, fought for control. This was getting way out of hand. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d bedded a woman, but apparently it had been far too long.

[Review + Giveaway ] Moonlit by @jadiejones1 #Moonlit

I am thrilled to bring you a look into a new Young Adult Fantasy book.   Moonlit by Jadie Jones was a wonderful read! I can't wait for the next in the series as I sit here hoping and wondering what will happen to Tanzy next!  Be sure to read my review below & enter the giveaway for the chance to win your own copy !

Moonlit
Moonlit Series, Book 1

Jadie Jones

Genre :  YA Fantasy

Publisher :  WiDo Publishing
Publication Date :  April 16, 2013
Length :  310 pages (paperback)

Book Description:

Eighteen-year-old Tanzy Hightower knows horses, has grown up with them on Wildwood Farm.  She also knows not to venture beyond the trees that line the pasture.  Things happen out there that can't be explained.  Or undone.  Worse, no one but she and the horses can see what lurks in the shadows of the woods.

When a moonlit ride turns into a terrifying chase, Tanzy is left to question everything, from the freak accident that killed her father to the very blood in her veins.  Broken and confused, she turns to Lucas, a scarred, beautiful stranger, and to Vanessa, a charming new friend who has everything Tanzy doesn't.

But why do they seem to know more about her than she knows herself?  Is she really Tanzy?  Or someone new?  Was she ever Tanzy?  And how will she choose between the many realities she's coming to know?

My Thoughts :

Something you might not know about me is my love for horses.  I grew up with horses and until about 6years ago, always had them in my life in some form or another.  My parents still have horses.  So I completely understand the connection between horse and rider. A fantasy book that involves horses is always going to be a plus in my book !  I felt the author's real-life knowledge of horses and riding really lent to the story and made everything seem more real to me.  You can somehow tell the difference between someone writing about what they have only read themselves and someone who truly understands.

Okay with that out of the way- no the book is not all about horses! lol! I just felt that connection and had to go with it :)  Tanzy has had a rough life.  Her mother is an alcoholic, her father died 3 years prior to the beginning of this story.  She has dropped out of school to deal with everything- taking care of her mother, working on the horse farm that was her father's.   When she sees the creepy creatures that caused her father's death, she has her own accident and near-death experience.  She wakes up to discover that she's not quite as normal as she once was.   Between unbelievable healing and seeing things that shouldn't be there, Tanzy continues to learn more about herself and tries to discover who she really is.   Add in Lucas who is in love with her and she is completely drawn to him, as well as Vanessa - rich young wife to the brain surgeon who saved her. She has more new people in her quick changing life and always a bit unsure of what to make of things.

While trying desperately not to give any real spoilers- I will end saying that the book ends with a cliffhanger, and leaves you wishing you had the next in the series already in hand.   I give it 5 stars!  Check it out !

About the Author :

Jadie Jones has been dreaming about being an author since she wrote her first book in the seventh grade – in a black and white composition tablet, of course. But life happens…jobs, husband, baby. Jadie has that magical time known as naptime to thank for Moonlit. Because, when all was quiet in the house (with the exception of the washer humming in the background) Jadie could hear Tanzy, who she thought she had long ago relegated to past dreams, calling to her. And one day Jadie pulled out a pen and answered. The result was Moonlit.
